The demo of Quantum Witch is set to be available during the Steam Next Fest. With this, players can get a hands-on look at this narrative-driven indie game. Steam Next Fest starts June 9 and ends June 16.
Quantum Witch gives players the chance to experience an emotional and story-rich adventure where each choice matters. It's set in a world that's filled with secrets just waiting to be discovered. Those curious enough can try and seek out the unknown to find that their exploration is rewarded with new insights, lore, and quests.
The game has players take on the role of Ren, a farm girl who hails from the peaceful utopia of Hus. Her once quiet life is suddenly thrown into chaos as she is pulled into an interdimensional conflict that involves ancient gods, cosmic forces, and mysterious powers. The multiverse is vast and there's no question that Ren’s choices are sure to shape its future. The thing is, the fate of her world hangs in the balance and the consequences of every action (and inaction) are greater than ever.
A Personal Connection
Quantum Witch is courtesy of solo developer NikkiJay who drew from her experiences particularly in a high-control cult where video games served as one of the few escapes she had. This deeply personal narrative is what sets the game apart from others in the same genre. It is her experiences of overcoming trauma, coming out, and losing her family in the process.
NikkiJay poured her heart into creating the game which explores themes of personal growth, healing, and the power of choice. All of these are then wrapped in a fantastical and queer-centered universe. Through this game, NikkiJay managed to reclaim her story and turned it into a piece of art filled with humor, empathy, and magic.
