Introduction This is a very special game. The idea behind it comes from two geniuses: George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. With two names like that, the game was sure to be a success right from the start. Story NASA detects an asteroid (named Attila) on a collision course with Earth. They can't blow it up, because the huge pieces would certainly hit the planet, so they send up a special team in a shuttle to plant nuclear charges on Attila, which would alter its course to miss Earth. After the explosion, three crewmembers discover that Attila is hollow and go inside to investigate. The asteroid turns out to be a starship which takes our heros to a planet in a far away galaxy. It's our job as mission commander to find the way back home. The only problem is, that only the natives know how to operate their machines. But where are they? Opinion This game is absolutely brilliant. No other word for it. Even for LucasArts, this is well beyond the standard. The graphics are extraordinary and the story is just wonderful. Full of mystery, suspence and basically awe at the alien planet's unfound civilization and its remnants. Imagine the best sci-fi movie you ever saw and now double it. That's The Dig. This is one game where even the hardest of puzzles won't be able to discourage you from continuing because you will want to know what lies ahead. I guarantee you, you will not be able to stop playing until you finish the game. The final touch on the already perfect setup was the beautiful ambient musical score that lingers all throughout the game, never stopping and putting the player exactly in the right frame of mind (and mood, I might add) for playing. With the help of this perfectly balanced background music the atmosphere of The Dig becomes complete and the unsuspecting player gets hooked for life.
