The Secret of Monkey Island

This game is one of my all time favorite adventure games. Actually, not just this one, but all of its sequels too. It's full of ideas and jokes that you'd never think of (probably no man in his right mind would) and even if an idea seems familiar from some other adventure game, remember: this is the original.

Story

We play the role of a young pirate wannabe: Guybrush Threepwood. With a fearsome name like that becoming a pirate is obviously not an easy task, but there are several other things standing in our hero's way as well. First, Guybrush falls in love with the governor, Elaine Marley. Second, he finds out that the dreaded ghost pirate LeChuck has also got the hots for the gov. So naturally when LeChuck kidnaps Elaine and takes her to his hideout -- Monkey Island guess who's the only one who wants to go to her rescue (if he can become a pirate first).

Opinion

Well, this isn't the easiest of games, but it's well worth the struggle (come to think of it, it wasn't really that hard either). The graphics are pretty nice, I absolutely love the music (especially the main title theme) but most importantly: it is hilarious! (Like most LucasArts games.) This is surely one of the funniest games out there.
