Police Quest 1 - In Pursuit of the Death Angel

This is the first episode of Sierra's Police Quest series. It seems that these guys just can't write stand-alone games, only series. But that's not our problem. As long as they're good, just keep 'em coming.

Story

We play the role of officer Sonny Bonds who works in the Lytton Police Department. The crime in the city has reached never before seen measures so we have a lot of work to do. Including catching a drug dealer nicknamed 'Death Angel' who's selling drugs to the kids at the school.

Opinion

Just like Larry 1, this game was also released in 1987, so Sierra decided to make a VGA version of it too. You'll find pictures of both games on this page. The storyline is identical for both, so you can use the walkthrough with any version you might have.

The graphics are not really impressive (especially in the older version) but they suit the game just fine. The music is no big deal either, it only kicks in when something's happening. What I really liked about the game is the story. It really makes you feel like a police officer; patrolling the streets, giving tickets, arresting people etc. For some strange reason I liked the EGA version much better than the VGA (maybe I just like typing). I have no idea why, but if you try it, I think you'll understand.

A piece of advice for anyone out there playing the EGA version: save early, save often!
